Focus and Scope

Since 1926 the Review has been the principal publisher and keeper of the historical heritage of the Great Southwest under Native America, Spain, Mexico, and the United States. The Review embraces fields of inquiry from history to folklore and literature to anthropology and archaeology. Articles range widely to cover topics from politics, land, and water to culture, religion, and ethnicity. Over the decades, Review authors have included many of the most pre-eminent writers and scholars working on the history of the Great Southwest. The current staff of the New Mexico Historical Review looks forward to publishing colorful, exciting, and informative articles of the ancient, colonial, territorial, and modern history of New Mexico and the Greater Southwest.
